Proverbs 24:3-4

By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Eric and I love our 20 minute lunch dates. They don't happen very often, but they are among my most treasured times together. We drive around looking for "hole-in-the wall" places. On our way home from sending Josh off, we discovered the Jasmine Thai Restaurant. This was the kind of place you think only exists in a romantic movie. It was so peaceful and quiet, the sunshine came in beautifully through the lacy curtains without glaring and was such a simple pleasure to bask in.
The owner greeted us and seated us. As we ate our lunch, we listened to his conversation with another couple. It reminded me of an old fashioned diner were conversation was not considered an out of date old word lost among the younger generation. Eric and I enjoyed ease dropping and he was so pleasant to listen to, we hardly had much conversation between the two of us. I was in love with the fabrics on the tables and ornate tapestries that hung on the walls. It was simply beautiful. I felt so welcomed that as we were waiting for our food I began to pray silently for the owner, the business, thanksgiving for my husband and many other persons on my mind. I snapped a couple of pictures, embarrassing my poor husband, because I wanted to have something for my future "The Adventures of Eric and Jean" scrapbook.
The food was so good I can't even do it justice with description.
If you are ever in the neighborhood, please don't miss a chance to stop in.

Send Off

As many of you know, my 17 year old cousin, Josh came to live with us back in August.
It has been an experience for Eric and I becoming instant parents to a teenager. There were a few bumps along the way, but we had the pleasure of watching him learn and grow. It is our prayer that the Lord would continue to work in his heart.

I am ever thankful for our church family and the love they extended to Josh while he was here.

Girl's Night Out

Warm Days

Learning God's Word

Last quarter we decided to take a break from the scripture memory program.
It had become a weekly battle and even a Sunday morning morning battle on the way to church.
During one of my quiet times I realized that I was the one who needed to teach Luke how to take DELIGHT in our Father's Word.
I took the time to put together crafts, games and activities for the week.

Since we had a beautiful weather last week we took a trip to the park.

My Prince Charming

Oh to have a husband who will take 10 minutes, before he leaves for the day,
to get back in bed, rub his wife's head and lay his hand on her face
until she falls back to sleep....

Who says Prince Charming only exists in a fairy tale?!

Happy Birthday, Eric!

Hiding under the little table to surprise Daddy.

Surprise! Happy Birthday, Daddy!

From the kids

pub glasses from Josh

From the wife...
"Your wife has reserved a cabin in the woods for you at
Turkey Run State Park for this Friday night and here's a bucket of goodies..."

He was so confused!
"A cabin all to myself... I guess I'll get some reading done..."
Little did he know I've been planning this for MONTHS and I had two of his buddies, Damien and Charley in on it. Eric drove up to Turkey Run, little did he know Damien and Charley were also in route. He checked in and settled into his cabin when there was knock at the door...
Eric said it was an awesome surprise to have a Dude's Weekend for his 31st Birthday.

Eric had many surprises this birthday. We surprised him with (what the kid's call) a fancy dinner on Thursday, a Dude's Weekend on Friday and on Saturday we finished with his favorite meal cooked especially for him by his Mommy.
I love this man and am thankful to celebrate as many birthdays with him as the Lord will grant me.

James 1:2-6

I have been reading "Don't Make Me Count to Three" during my parenting quiet times. I came across a very convicting reality.
As the caretaker of His children, it is my job to use EVERY opportunity to instruct them in His ways and keep there heart tender for the Holy Spirit.
I have taken up the challenge of conviction to change my heart and especially my mind, from anger and frustration to joy and patience during times of instruction/discipline. I have realized that the Lord provides plenty of opportunities to train them and share His Word. It is my own laziness and sin that prevent me from doing what I know I should be doing. No this not a full proof "get perfect children" plan, but it is a righteous plan because it's not MY plan. It is the plan already laid before me and I fully equipped to handle my little blessings, if I utilize what I have been given.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
James 1:2-6

It is a daunting task to raise His children, both blessing and bewildering.
It is also a refining fire to which many things are revealed.
What a gracious Father to give the gift of wisdom when I sway from His ways.
