Proverbs 24:3-4

By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Soldier Down

Well, today is the first day I've been able to come out of the bedroom. I started feeling tired on Wednesday and by Thursday I knew I was getting sick. I stupidly started trying to get laundry done and managed to get four of the six loads washed and only one of those four put away. I have three loads of clean clothes still in the baskets. UGH! I just hate getting behind and even worse having wrinkled clean clothes. UGH! Anyone not busy on Monday? :-)

The silver lining around my dark cloud of sickness has been Eric. He has managed the house like a pro. He took great care of me. He kept me on the NyQuil as directed (which is WONDROUS stuff- it's the "mommy medicine"- knocks you out so you don't hear the kids). Not only did he take care of me and the other sick kids (Luke & Kayla), but also cleaned the kitchen and living room. Krista survived as well :-). Really he did a great job and went above and beyond. I stayed drugged in the bedroom, sleeping for two days. How humbling.

Well, my kids seem to have grown at least two inches since I've been sick. I will take it easy tomorrow. Eric will go to church and I'll keep the kids here since the older kids are still snotty (gross). Monday I'll begin to tackle the mounds of laundry and prepare for my visit with Rebecca. Yippeee!

Jean if I were not going to be in PA on Monday I would totally be at your house! I will be praying that you get better and your little kids too! :) I will, Lord willing, see you Saturday! Have a great day!

p.s. You absolutely amaze me! I love you :)

I pray that you all get well soon, and that you'll enjoy you're visit with Rebecca. She and I were both in Ohio today, just opposite corners. I flew into Cleveland, and she flew into Cincinnati. Bummer. It would have been so cool to be at the same airport at the same time!

It's never easy being sick. Mother's aren't supposed to get sick!! It is nice having such a helpful husband though, I'm sure. Hope you are better.

Jean Marie,

I am glad you enjoyed reading my blog. I enjoyed yours as well. Your 3 kids and my 3 are similar in ages, so it's always fun hearing how others fare in "Mommy-dom."

I read the article you sent me about Obama and abortion. Thank you - it made me more passionate in supporting him. I love his unwaivering conviction in what he believes is right. Even in the face of hard issues.

I think we might have very different views on abortion - for I agree with his stance. I believe it is a woman's right to make the decision for herself. Her decision should not be one that is influenced by laws. As a Christian, I would never have an abortion myself. But I do not intend to put my religious beliefs on others - especially in an area that is so personal. There is a separation of Church and State for a reason.

As well, I also believe that God calls me to hate the sin and love the sinner. And He and only He has the right to judge.

My husband teaches highschool. And I stay at home. We struggle to make ends meet. Every year he faces pay cuts, more kids in the classroom, less $ for basic teaching necessities. In three of his classes - children have to sit on the floor and take notes because there are not enough desks!

But this country has enough $ to spend almost a TRILLION DOLLARS on War? I just don't see how that is justifiable.

Let's worry about the children that are already here. Get the young ones the opportunity of a proper education and bring the older ones home from Iraq!

Perhaps some of that TRILLION DOLLARS could be spent on Sex Education in the schools. I say give it to Planned Parenthood - so that young women who are choosing to have sex before they are emotionally, financially, and physically ready to take care of a child - can easily get Drs. appointments and birth control when they have no insurance.

I support Obama because he is not about partisan politics. America is not made up of Democrats and Republicans. Right wingers and Left wingers. Red States and Blue States. America is made up of PEOPLE.

Here are some of Obama's own words that literally bring chills to my skin - I so whole heartedly agree:

"This was one of the tasks we set forth at the beginning of this campaign – to continue the long march of those who came before us, a march for a more just, more equal, more free, more caring and more prosperous America. I chose to run for the presidency at this moment in history because I believe deeply that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together – unless we perfect our union by understanding that we may have different stories, but we hold common hopes; that we may not look the same and we may not have come from the same place, but we all want to move in the same direction – towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren.

This belief comes from my unyielding faith in the decency and generosity of the American people. But it also comes from my own American story.

I am the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. I was raised with the help of a white grandfather who survived a Depression to serve in Patton’s Army during World War II and a white grandmother who worked on a bomber assembly line at Fort Leavenworth while he was overseas. I’ve gone to some of the best schools in America and lived in one of the world’s poorest nations. I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners – an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters. I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.

It’s a story that hasn’t made me the most conventional candidate. But it is a story that has seared into my genetic makeup the idea that this nation is more than the sum of its parts – that out of many, we are truly one."

I agree with his stance on Iraq, Immigration, Health care, Early Childhood Education, Faith, Family, Race and so much more. He represents a change that needs to happen in this country. Do you realize that it has been 28 YEARS since you were able to vote on a presidential ticket that didn't have a BUSH or a CLINTON on it?

Happy Voting!
