Overshadowing

I just finished reading the words of a sister in Christ, who reminded me where my focus needed to be. Rather than on the frustrations of the week, I need to focus on the joys.

We have had a rough week with Josh, but I feel like it is passing. However, with teenagers there is always a storm of one sort or another.

I decided to count my blessings:

-Alaina. For your wisdom and caring heart to write what I needed to hear.
-My Husband. Eric cleaned the kitchen not once, but twice this week for me. For turning on my electric blanket in the middle of the night. For setting the alarm for me this morning. For the unexpected hug and sweetly planted kiss he gave me after we returned home from Bible Study.
-My son, Luke. He is my second love. I find great joy in disciplining him, taking the time to instruct in the way of our Father, and seeing his heart change.
-Kayla. The way she thinks things are "awesome". The way she says "I love you Mommy." The fun time we had dancing and singing yesterday afternoon.
-Krista. The way she runs to me eyes shinning and arms held outward. It is joy, in the purest form.
-My Heavenly Father and His assurance that He doesn't give me more than I can handle. His guidance in my life and direction of my steps. His power over all things, great and small.

I am so beautifully blessed.

you ARE so beautifully blessed.

I'm sorry you had a rough week this past week, and do hope that it gets better and better. With a blessings list each day, it surely will become so.

I found your bullet about taking joy in disciplining to be sort of a slap. A good slap though. Sometimes I get so exhausted by the need of consistency that discipline is such a burden. But truly, we are glorifying God in the process, and so, we ought to be pleased in it. Thanks for reminding me. It is hard to remember that sometimes.

Have a better week Jean Marie! I'm thinking of ya, and praying for you always.

Jean, I absolutely love you! You are such an amazing woman of God. I don't think that I have ever read your blog and gone away without feeling closer to God. I appreciate you so much! And I miss seeing you! I will be praying for you! And I loved how at the end of this post you said that you were thankful for how God doesn't give you more than you can handle. That is so true and God used that to speak to me, too. Thank you for your God centered posts. I love you!

~Kathryn :)
